Brooklyn Home Companion, a blog kept by Cobras Biz & Katie, was mentioned in the New York Times! Sadly, not for our heroines’ wit and valor, but for the somewhat less distinguished habit of having an uncanny ability to predict trends. [Clearly, this is either Biz or Katie writing this. But I won't say which one.]

Never ones to shy away from bold sartorial statements, the Cobras have been rocking overalls since at least January, kids (with varying degrees of sexiness/horror). Exhibit A:

More under the cut.

The lovely Brooklyn musical duo Bow Ribbons – who will be venturing into the Cobra Den for a hootenanny soon, date TBD, p.s.! (they said yes) – is playing at Shea Stadium (no, not the actual stadium; it’s an all-ages music venue at 20 Meadow Street in East Williamsburg/Bushwick) tonight, opening up for High Places. If I didn’t have a thousand middle-aged Ohio ladies (i.e., my family) staying at my house tonight, I’d be there. So go, and let me live vicariously through you!

Boomslang, GDC’s theater/literary wing, will be holding a developmental, workshop-style reading of two new, 1-act plays, Word Play/Paper Play by Amy Rose Marsh and Speaking in Stomachs by Katharine Henner as part of Arts in Bushwick’s SITEfest 2010.

When: Saturday, March 6th, 1-2:30 p.m.

Where: Third Ward, 195 Morgan Avenue, Bushwick,  Studio A

Suggested donation: $5

Paper Play/Word Play imagines a love affair between two recluses who spend their lives obsessing over the written word.  In Speaking in Stomachs, Katharine Henner imagines a support group for information addicts.

This reading, which will be followed by a short talk-back with the authors, is designed to hone and tone the presented scripts, which are in gestation. This is the first time getting either of these plays on their feet, and the authors would like to invite you, as audience members, to take notes, talk back and be a part of the process. We are workshopping these plays in anticipation of full-production in the Capitol Fringe Fest in Washington, D.C., and possibly elsewhere, this summer.

The Cobra Editing School turned into a love nest as we continued to edit the footage from our first Cobra Den Invitational, with Wakey!Wakey!, through Valentine’s Day weekend. Knowing the way to our hearts is through our stomachs, Jables cooked up a special Love Brunch and Eric baked homemade chocolate chip cookies. Luke & Jackie made a trek to Nablus Sweets & Pastries in Bay Ridge, just to bring us some delicious kunafa. Thanks to everyone who kept us extraordinarily well-fed! <3
